on becoming an idiom

Photobucket

this past weekend found me in the city. each time i visit a city, it is startling to realize how fast the overall pace of living can be there.

my senses where overwhelmed, there is so much to see and experience in the city... the sights and sounds and smells are so different from what i have become accustomed to in the country.

Photobucket

i did have a wonderful time seeing loved ones and celebrating-- but in the background, the landscape was a constant reminder that i was out of my element....sigh...

Photobucket

on the way home...

Photobucket

...as the landscape changes...

Photobucket

it is obvious... i have become the girl you can take out of the country, but...

I too, feel overwhelmed in large cities. I always tell my DH to finish our business and get me the hell outa there. I will try to enjoy my time in a very large city (Paris) this summer.

ya know, it's always good to know your limitations. you leave your comfort zone occasionally, but why do it all the time?

I so agree. I was in Chicago and I thought the very same thing. Cities are wonderful places to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. I don't move fast enough. ha.. Beautiful photos. The party looks like fun.

Although some will say our way is slow and old fashioned versus the flow of the city it also suits me better. Lord knows I would rather look up into the woods than into a high rise any day.

Country girl here too! No wonder though, the landscape on your way home is just incredible!

Give me birds and leaves rustling over car horns and crowds any day.

Too many people, too much speed, so much noise, long lines...sadly my small university town is becoming more city-like...

Our town (pop. 18000-ish) is almost too big for me most days. I sympathize!

My small town went from a farming community to a bedroom community for Denver - and doubled in size in the last 10 yrs. I, too, am thinking more of where I belong.

Can't say I'm much of a city person either. Going home must be a real relief.

We too feel this way when we go to cities and I can't believe we both worked in one for years. Give me the quiet life any day

Do you know the John Hartford song "In Tall Buildings"? That's what your pictures reminded me of!
