soar gallery and market

My trip to the SOAR Gallery and Marketplace was wonderful.

Photobucket

The Gallery was filled with creative and skillfully executed works of fiberart. I took so many photographs that I filled the memory card on my camera.

Being able to view the actual finished pieces of so many talented people was rare occasion for me, and I was in awe of the color, texture, design and perfection of the works of so many hands.

And then there are the people who belong to those hands!

There were friends I have met before, and many people that I recognized, but did not have the chance to meet...and a moment to say thank you to a mentor.

But like most perfect sunny fall autumn afternoons, it was over all to soon for me. A new group of people were arriving for the retreat, and I slipped out to return to every day life and responsibilities that are necessary. I carried two special packages home with me, they will be a nice reminder of great afternoon.

I tried to make a slide show of some of the photographs that I took- alas- my poor antiquated computer is not able to keep up with some of the programs required to run them...so if you are interested, you can visit my photobucket page and browse through them there.

Wow! the gallery offerings were very impressive. The felt boot was a real standout; what an amazing and beautiful combination of techniques! I loved the sweater knit with the sort of checkerboard-effect pattern but thought some of your buttons, rather than the metal ones the artist used, would have been a superb finish.
BTW, I find it totally hilarious that the photobucket people censored the "potato butt" photo!

Shoot, how did I miss you at SOAR?! Or did I meet you and not put two and two together? Darn... well, you'll be interested to know I found a dead katydid on the stone wall outside the main door while waiting to load our vehicle this morning. Clearly, the first heavy frost has hit.

SOAR sounds fantastic - the photos are great! Can't believe a potatoe needs censoring - daft photobucket!
Is that really a grasshopper? Ours look totally different other than the face - love to learn with your blog!

What an inspirational day! Non-fiber people just wouldn't understand at all.

I can't believe I missed you! Actually, I believe I saw you walking with Judy outside the front door when I was taking my luggage across the road to my room - I saw you, thought 'maybe that's Cyndy' but I wasn't sure so I didn't want to yell, and I hoped I'd run into you again. But I didn't. Boo! Ah well, Pennsylvania was so beautiful that I'm sure I'll come again.

Off to look at your photos!

OMG Cyndy. I can see why you were awed and inspired at this place. What great works of art.

Doesn't a show like that just make your heart sing with inspiration? :-) Being among other fiber artists is wonderful for stimulating our senses and creativity. Just not enough time to do all the things one would like to put her hand to.
