production

So I have finished up a yarn order that I have been working on...after two pounds of it, I am ready to move on.

I discovered that for speed, pre-drafting the roving made it easier to work up a nice rhythm and fill the bobbin faster. ..the downside of this was that it made for some pretty rote spinning....

The project was challenging for me, as I did set a deadline for myself, one that I did not meet. Maybe I set the bar a little high, but I did learn what I can expect myself to achieve. Sometimes it is hard to accept my own limitations and shortcomings. ...

Where will this yarn eventually go? What will it grow up to become? I will never know. Silly me, wondering about what will happen to the yarn I spin, as if I had some sort of connection to it.

Of course you have a connection to it! You dyed it, you spun it, you plied it, it's part of you! I feel that way about my yarn, anyway.

Flwrhead-- Actually, this batch was simply spun...singles....maybe that is why I feel funny, only a small link in the chain....

Anne- thanks! yea, it is hard not to wonder about how it will eventually wind up....hopefully, it will remember all the things I've taught it, and it would be nice if it would come and visit me on the holidays ;-)

Karen- HI! Have you come out of hibernation? I liked the colors too, they were nice to work with...

It's interesting to come across this post right at a moment when I've been doing a lot of thinking about the connection we have with the materials we use in our work. I can't help but feel that your own connection with this yarn will somehow work its way into the knitting of whoever eventually receives it. :)

Cathy and Annemarie, it is my hope that whomever it winds up with will enjoy it...and at the same time, this production spinning has left me feeling somewhat like just a cog in the wheel....
