This video shows some wonderful spinning techniques. And I especially love the bird inside the house. If you go directly to the Youtube site, and enlarge the video to full screen, you can see a great close up of the fingers spinning down off the distaff on the wheel.

cyndy, What a way to have to get your fabric. Whew... Although I appreciate their hard work and skill I wouldn't want to have to live like this. Isn't that country side, mountains and all just magnificent?.
Luna was lying here beside me when the video began. when the dog barked feriously she jumped up and ran out of the room looking toward the front of our house. She was wondering 'where is that angry dog.?'
I loved the video. I wish it were in English and I wish I had that view!
Amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing! Truly amazing how she pulled the wool off the distaff without so much as looking at it, while she was chatting and looking around! AND doing the whole thing one handed!! And the spindlers...spinning and winding on at the same time...wow!
I saw this twice earlier today at youtube via spindler's. It was fascinating to see them work the wool and flax and using the various tools which are similar yet simply different from ours. (Double meaning intended.)
To be honest I found it slightly, sadly haunting (the music helped set the mood) I couldn't help but think of this beautiful country and the people there who've suffered wars and ongoing turmoil for so many years, along with the evident poverty and hardship. Is there any area of Serbia that is immune to the Bosnia/Serb/Yugoslavia conflicts?
That was amazing. Thank you so much for sharing it!
Great video!!!! I posted it on our guild's blog. I'm sure they will enjoy it. I love the bird in the house, too!
thank you for sharing this lovely video. a lot of strength and beauty there. I *did* wonder what the cat was eating since I didn't see the little bird flying around anymore after that...hmmm.
Wow, that's a great video...fabulous demonstration of skilled traditional spinning. Thanks for sharing it. Wish I could understand what they were saying!
