walk with me wed, shedding velvet

I didn't take a regular walk today...I have a cold or allergy or somethingorother that has me feeling under the weather. However, I did get a video of a young buck that is in the process of shedding the velvet from his antlers. He was here early in the morning. I started to get quite close to him, and when he looked at me, I decided I didn't want to get too close...his new antlers looked rather sharp.

sorry about the truck noises in the background...it was rush hour in the river valley. Lately, we have had these big trucks transporting large boulders to gosh knows where. They are taking a mountain apart and sending the pieces elsewhere, what a world....

Wonderful video, thanks. Between the weather changes and the allergies, I think many of us are a bit under the weather. Feel better.

Beautiful! Thanks. My little son looooved it. (I just wanted to reach out and pull that velvet off for the guy - that dangling thing would drive. me. nuts.)

Very cool. And yes, smart to not get too close to those pointy little antlers. A wetland scientist was gored last week by a buck while delineating wetlands in lower Bucks County last week. Something I have never even considered.

What a wonderful video! Thanks for sharing! Makes me homesick for my old stompin' grounds up in the wilds of Northern Maine. My Mum has a deer herd that usually tops out at 20 or so in your back yard every winter. (The only bad part is carting off the poo in the spring!)
