spinning in the dark

The days are so full of work, it is a pleasure to sit down in the evening to spin. Especially in the dark, with only one light~ shining on the wool. Especially when it involves spinning on a new (old) wheel. Now I understand why a spinner NEEDS more than just A wheel.

Since it has not been used in a long time, it needs some breaking in. Actually, the breaking in time applies to both the spinner and the wheel I believe...but I am enjoying it! This Canadian Production wheel is fast. It eats wool. And oil. I have not "cleaned her up" yet. But I discovered that she purrs like a kitten ...or as Grace would say, like a Harley. Don't believe me? Have a listen....

  1. Wish I could listen, still on dial up. I DO know what you mean. My production wheels are loud. And fast.

  2. I have to agree with Grace ~it sounds more like a Harley than a kitten. I spun my most consistent yarn during a power outage so I like spinning in the dark. I didn't feel up to spinning last night but I did get some spinning in this morning...hopefully I will get more in tonight.

  3. Ha! She is a talker! She'll probably quieten down a good bit once those leathers get thoroughly soaked.

A friend has a cat she named Harley for similar reasons.

Is your only other wheel the Ashford? Then this _is_ a new experience for you, isn't it? Welcome to the world of BigWheels. :D
